Ever wake up and feel… off? Here’s how I use movement, meditation, and mindset rituals to get back to center and reclaim my day.

When My Morning Feels Off

Every so often, I wake up just off. I can’t always put my finger on it. My usual morning routine—walking the dog, working out, meditating, journaling—feels like it belongs to someone else’s life.

I still do the essentials. The dog must be walked. The coffee must be made. I’ll need to shower. But I’m missing my usual pep.

Instead of diving into the habits that usually help me feel grounded and strong, I start doing mental gymnastics:
What has to get done today?

What can I let go of?

Then I open my inbox and start responding to other people’s priorities.

Missing the Point

In my fatigue, I miss the point entirely. I’m forcing a square peg into a round hole—and it’s just not going to work.

The truth is:
My morning isn’t meant to test me.
I designed it to support me.

My Real Morning Ritual

Running, lifting weights, yoga—these get my blood moving and reconnect me to my breath. That physical movement creates space for presence in meditation. And once I’ve found some quiet, my journaling has more depth. I connect to my heart.
Body. Mind. Soul.

When I skip the time to look inward, my day rarely improves.
Sure, I might get by. Maybe I squeeze in a cat nap. Maybe a donut gives me a sugar boost. Some days feel better than others—but none feel truly aligned.

Why It Matters

When I stick with it—even imperfectly—I always feel a little more like myself.

Even if I cut corners.

Even if I check my watch every minute during meditation.

Like a compass, my morning ritual helps me find my true north.
And when I’m centered, I almost always have a better day—because I’m a truer version of myself.

What Grounds You?
Drop me a line—I respond to every message. I’d love to hear what keeps you at your best.

Stay awesome, Heather
